AiIG Early Career Scholars Lab – Third edition

The Role of Generative AI in Research and Education

Genova, 15-16 January 2026

Where and When

Università degli Studi di Genova

From Thursday 15 to Friday 16 January 2026

The first activity starts on the 15th at 9:00am, registration from 8:30am. The last activity ends on the 16th at 14:00pm.

This year’s theme

Generative AI has rapidly spread across all industries, particularly in knowledge-based sectors, as users continuously explore new ways to integrate this technology into their activities. In this context of quick change and innovation, the third edition of the AiIG Early Career Scholars Lab will feature a series of activities focused on the use of generative AI in management both for research (day 1) and teaching (day 2) purposes.

Who is this for?

These two days program are designed especially for early-career scholars (RTD-a, RTD-b, RTT and Post-Doc) who seek a structured, hands-on immersion in generative AI, both for research applications and for teaching. As the roles of researchers and educators evolve in this transitional phase, join us to deepen your expertise and explore the future of academia together!

How will you get involved?

You’ll join a mix of seminars, hands-on workshops, roundtable talks, feedback, sharing and networking. During the interactive sessions, you’ll work in small teams to apply generative AI tools and methods as you learn them. The Lab is all about experimenting, collaborating, sharing your experiences, and having lively discussions — so be ready to explore new ideas, ask questions, and co-create fresh insights with your peers!

By the end of the Lab, you’ll have explored how to integrate generative AI seamlessly into your workflows.

  • For your research: identify your topic and review the literature; explore theoretical frameworks and research questions; deploy quantitative and qualitative methods; present and discuss your findings; refine your manuscript to share your work.
  • For your teaching: re-engineer your course; design teaching activities; gather feedback.

At the same time, ongoing discussions will sharpen your critical perspective on the opportunities, limitations, and ethical implications of this technology in academia.

If you already have experience in using generative AI in research or education, you will also find dedicated sessions for sharing and presenting your own case studies.
